Wildwing Plantation - HUMMINGBIRD
100 Wild Wing Blvd. Myrtle Beach SC 29526
|
The Hummingbird, designed by Willard Byrd, integrates the area's natural beauty with interesting and challenging golf. Wetlands and native grasses form the course's perimeter, complementing lush green fairways. The Hummingbird course at Wild Wing is a links-style layout.
.Hummingbird - designed by Byrd - is |
| an imposing collection of 18 holes that appear to have arisen from a myriad of protected wetlands. The course requires surgical precision on both tee shot to green shots and generally speaking, there will be more thinking involved than at a Mensa meeting. It features several lakes, open fairways, four sets of tees, pot and waste bunkers, stands of love grass, average size greens with some contouring and many wetlands. Be careful though with your shots or the wetlands will swallow-up some of your good shots. Built in 1992 this is the 3 rd of the four courses at Wild Wing Plantation and with just over 6800 yards from the back tees, a good course to begin the day with if you want to go a full 36 holes on the same property. But
beware, as anyone who has played it will attest, the toughest track at Wild Wing goes by the relatively benign moniker of Hummingbird.
