followed the Heathland- style format and designed Shaftesbury Glen resembling the courses featured in the British Open. He has created a masterpiece with elevated greens, picture-perfect sand traps, wide-flowing fairways, demanding doglegs, and tantalizing par 3’s. From stone-gated entrance to Olde English clubhouse, all evokes the spirit of Shaftesbury, England - the project’s namesake. This challenging, yet playable course, features open tee shots; wide, flat fairways, long par 5’s, large, elevated, heavily trapped and fast greens and water coming into play on twelve holes. Shaftesbury Glen’s greens get rave reviews from many golfers that return year after year. Johnston gave the course large landing areas to allow every golfer the chance to play well. However, he still gave the course elevated-greens, which will surely add to the difficulty of the round if a player lands short of the green.
Shaftesbury Glen is destined to top your MUST PLAY list. |
